Obituary

ETHELSVILLE - Helen Ruth Finch Fields, age 72, of Ethelsville, died November 22, 2016, at home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Plymon, Rev. Tim Owen and Rev. Damon Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Loyed Finch Owen; father, Harry Finch; and infant brother.
Survivors include her husband of 51 1/2 years, Rev. Dr. Milton B. Fields of Ethelsville, Ala.; son, Stephen Fields and wife, Carol Ann of Columbus, Miss.; the father that raised her, Rev. Robert Owen (Willie Pearl) of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Rev. Dennis Owen (Trena) of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sisters, Kinnie Schofield (Mike) of Sebastopol, Calif. and Martha Hamm (Rodney) of Highland City, Fla.; and granddaughter, Victoria Erin Fields of Columbus, Miss.
Mrs. Fields was born February 7, 1944 in Chipley, Florida. She was a former teacher in Moss Point, Miss., West Point, Miss., Pickens County, Ala. and Nashville-Metro School Systems. Helen was a loving and devoted pastor's wife, mother and grandmother.
Honorary pallbearers are her nephews and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Amedisys Hospice, 1300 McFarland Blvd. NE, Suite 340, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406 or to Welch College Scholarship Fund, 3606 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN 37205.
