ETHELSVILLE – Helen Britt Harcrow, age 88, of Ethelsville, Ala., died December 11, 2016, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday December 14, 2016, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Dawkins and Rev. Charles Young officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight, Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to service at the church.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Harcrow; granddaughter, Kristen Canterberry; great-grandson, Logan Harcrow; her parents; seven brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Parker (Terry) and Rena Jones (Gary); sons, Sammy Harcrow (Janice), Roger Harcrow (Sean) and Donald Harcrow (Marilyn); sister, Mildred Sanders; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harcrow was born June 19, 1928 in McShan, Alabama to the late Charlie Samuel Britt and Willie Gertrude Threet Britt. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, a retired seamstress for Seminole and Bosch in Columbus, Miss. and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. Helen loved working in her flowers, gardening and sewing. She made homemade quilts and gave one to all of her children and grandchildren. She was also a great cook, always cooking for her family and others. She loved her family more than anything. Her kids and grandkids were the joy of her life. But most of all, she loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her church. She was saved at age ten and lived a wonderful Christian life. Helen always took care of others and put them first. She said the hardest thing that she had ever done in life was ""doing nothing''. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are members of Pine Grove Baptist Church and employees of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.
