Henry Austin Helmers, Sr., age 88, of Reform, AL died April 26, 2026 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 1, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Kilgore and Bro. Blake Burkhalter officiating. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gussie Helmers.

Survivors include his wife, Gypsy Simpson Helmers; his daughters, Delynn Shelton and husband, Butch and Amy Kilgore and husband, Andy; son, Henry Austin “Hank” Helmers, Jr. and wife, Nicole; nine grandchildren, Sam Shelton, Jake Shelton (Tori), Katherine Doss (Kris), Austin Helmers, Garrett Helmers, Mattison Helmers, Gracie Kilgore, Jack Kilgore and Gus Kilgore; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Eleanor and Claire Shelton and special friends and caregiver, Roger and Robin Minton, Dennis and Barbara Pugh and Gwen Flowers.

Henry was born February 21, 1938 in Selma, Alabama to the late Gus Helmers and Katherine Stricklen Helmers. He was a member of Reform First Baptist Church, a retired employee of Reform Motor Company with over 30 years of service and owner of Henry’s Used Auto Sales for over 10 years. A well-known resident of Pickens County, Henry was active with the Central Alabama Christian Builders and a veteran of the Army National Guard.

His grandsons are Honorary Pallbearers.
