Obituary

CARROLLTON – Henry Oneal McDaniel, age 85, of Carrollton, Ala., died November 16, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. today, November 18, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Winders and Rev. Shawn McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately after the service at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Acker McDaniel; sons, Dennis McDaniel and wife, Lisa, and Tim McDaniel; sisters, Elsie Brownlee (Henry), Sara McAteer (Roy) and Tammy Gilliam (Tommy); brothers, Bobby McDaniel (Rose) and John E. McDaniel; five grandchildren, Zach McDaniel (Paula), Kendall McDaniel Junkin (Samuel), Hayden McDaniel, Karley McDaniel and Banks Hutchings; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron McDaniel, Emma McDaniel and Leo Junkin. Mr. McDaniel was born March 17, 1931 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Wilburn McDaniel and Rosie Nell Harcrow McDaniel. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church and a retired machinist who worked for Westinghouse and Lavender, Inc. in Aliceville, Ala., Oneal was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be Ken Acker, Mike Acker, Steve Kilgore, Brian Kilgore, Larry Aycock, Rodney Etheridge, Alan Spencer, Russell Hanson, Dan Brownlee, Phillip McDaniel, Mike McDaniel and Bill McDaniel.Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
