GORDO | Henry Lewis Shirley, age 82, of Gordo, died November 12, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Skelton Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Joey Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah Nell Mullenix (Herbert) and Maudean Driver (Dalton); brother, Raymond Shirley; and niece, Teresa Joy Kelley.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Shirley, of Gordo, Ala.; son, Anthony "Tony" Shirley and wife, Susan of Lexington, Ala.; sister-in-law, Edna Earl Shirley of Gordo, Ala.; three grandchildren, Will, Wes and Lorianna Shirley; and one great grandchild, Brody Shirley.
Henry was born October 31, 1933 in Gordo, Alabama to the late William Anderson "Dock" Shirley and Nannie Lou Sims Shirley. He was a member of Elmore Center United Methodist Church and the Gordo Lions Club. Henry was a retired employee of the Town of Gordo and veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Pallbearers will be Richard Champion, Tony Gregg, Keith Mullenix, Kevin Mullenix, Wes Shirley and Will Shirley.
Honorary pallbearers are past and present employees of the Town of Gordo, the Coffee Club at Cheeky's, members of Elmore Center Methodist Church, friends and family, employees of North Harbor and Hospice of West Alabama and Gordo Lion's Club.
