Obituary

GORDO | Herman Eston Holley, age 82, of Gordo, Ala. an American Army Soldier and Korean War Combat Veteran, football coach, potato chip truck driver, Gordo movie theatre projectionist, Westinghouse plant worker, cattleman, farmer, and Champion of the American worker, went to meet his maker on October 26, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday night, October 28, 2015, at Skelton Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Derrell Holley and Jerrell Holley.Survivors include his wife, Carrie June Bailey Holley; his daughter, Candice Holley Braswell; son, Mark Eston Holley; sister, Jewell Dean Holley Sentell; and grandchildren, Georgia Amanda Braswell and Alison Renee Braswell.Herman was born on November 18, 1932 in Kennedy, Ala. to the late William Eston Holley and Evie Lee Sullivan Holley. He was a retired International Representative for I.B.E.W. with 27 years of service. Mr. Holley was a member of Gordo First Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge 564.Pallbearers will be Samuel Bailey, Jason W. Mullenix, Nathan Mullenix, Wes Fuller, Billy Brazeal, Charles C. Robertson and James Akin.Honorary pallbearers are Former Westinghouse Employees, friends of the Gordo Community, members of the Gordo Masonic Lodge 564, and a special thanks to his Caregiver Mildred Skelton.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35404.
