GORDO – Earnest Hilton Reece, age 84, of Gordo, Ala., died January 23, 2018, at his residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hershel Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Doris Nell Elmore Reece; daughters, Pam Homan (Allen) and Judy Tolstick (Nick); sons, Rickey Reece (Karen) and Eric Reece (Karrie); 11 grandchildren, Heather Chavers (Dan), Brandon Reece (Kellie), Justin Homan (Judy), Joshua Homan, Amber Homan, Jessica Shepherd (Jarrett), Nicholas Tolstick (Traci), Kyle Reece, Taylor Reece, Nathan Reece and Lawson Free; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Reece was born June 26, 1933 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Earnest Davis Reece and Lucy Agnes Connell Reece. He was a retired machinist for Westinghouse Electric, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. Hilton was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Reece, Justin Homan, Kyle Reece, Nicholas Tolstick, Nathan Reece and Colin Chavers.
Honorary pallbearers are Pastor Lindsey Watkins, Dr. Leonard Jones, coffee buddies at Cheeky's, Hospice nurses and special caregiver, Carol Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
