REFORM | Hortense Taylor Harris, age 85, of Reform, died July 31, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Wilson and Rev. Ron Riffe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior and immediately following the service.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her sons, Steven Lee Harris (Darlene), Michael Lee Harris and Kenneth Lee Harris (Ann); sister, Judah Christine Taylor Heritage (Harold); brother, Frederick Ward Taylor, Jr. (Joan); and grandchildren, Michael Lee Graham, Jonathan Lee Harris (Becky) and James Frederick Harris.
Hortense was born June 11, 1930 in the Pine Grove Community of Pickens County, Ala. to the late Frederick Ward Taylor, Sr. and Judah Eatoile Elizabeth Burgess Taylor. She was a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church, a former retail sales clerk and a retired bookkeeper for Spiller Furniture in Reform, Ala.
Honorary pallbearers will be the special caregivers, Annie King, Josephine Bonner, employees of Amedisys, Dr. Jim Gentry, staff of Pickens County Medical Center and DCH Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Attention: Gary Manning, 401 1st St. N. Reform, Alabama 35481.
