Irene Elizabeth M. Ezelle, age 101, of Aliceville, AL passed away May 24, 2021 at Trinity Place in Columbus, MS. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Aliceville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Ezelle, Sr.; sons, Ben Ezelle Sr. (Martha) and Doug Ezelle (Betti); her parents; sisters, Kathryn Rawls (Fred), Iva Higgins (Sam) and Louise Daniel (Sam); brother, Bill Miller; brothers-in-law, Bill Cox, E. E. Watson and Allen Ezelle (Ollie D.) and sisters-in-law, Francis Hamiter (Albert) and Rose Knox (Harold).
She is survived by her son Edward C. Ezelle, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Aliceville, AL; two sisters, Virginia Watson of Columbus, GA and Bennie Cox of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Irene was born July 5, 1919 in Oakman, Alabama to the late Rev. B. F. Miller and Mary James Miller. She was a member of Aliceville First United Methodist Church and was always involved with the Homemakers Club and in any community projects. Irene enjoyed swimming, crocheting, knitting and china painting which she loved sharing with family and friends. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
