"Buddy" Crocker
March 30, 1929 – June 12, 2022
John Postell "Buddy" Crocker of Reform, AL died on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 16th, at 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church of Reform with Rev. Joyce Snyder and Rev. Maggie Dunaway officiating. Visitation will be at the church at 1 PM, and immediately following the service. Burial will be in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was born in Houlka, Mississippi, on March 30, 1929, to the late James Zuelar and Lucy Brown Crocker. He grew up in Gordo, Alabama and is a graduate of Gordo High School. He served in the United States Army, and from 1954 until 1993 he and his wife, Martha, owned and operated Housel Hardware Company in Reform. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Reform where he served faithfully in many leadership positions over the years. He was also very involved in the formation of Pickens Academy and of Knolls Country Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Crocker Beard (John); granddaughter, Anna Turner Bisch (Travis); Step-grandsons, Grant Beard and Jackson Beard; Sister, Muriel Crocker Holman; Nephews, John Holman (Sandra), John Stewart (Hannah), Mark Housel (Cindy), Paul Housel (Tricia), and sister-in-law, Tenza Housel.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Martha Housel Crocker.
The family would like to thank Tammy Smith Booth, Leona Carroll, Candi Carroll and Cherry Smith Truelove, his wonderful care-givers who were with him in the last months of his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Habitat for Humanity, Embrace Alabama Kids (United Methodist Children's Home) or a charity of your choice.
