Obituary

Jacob "Jake" Doyle Abrams Jr, age 58, of Lake Charles, LA passed away October 3, 2021 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel in Reform, AL with Rev. John Williams and Elder Chris McCool officiating. Burial will follow in Double Branch Independent Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Doyle Abrams, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lisa Abrams; mother, Jessie Abrams; sister, Amanda Abrams Hajjar (Joe); brother, John Abrams; nephews, Daniel Hajjar, John Hajjar (Emily), Chris Wood, Elijah Cline, and Jeremiah Cline; niece, Marian Cline; special aunts, Faye  Crowell, Ethel Sizemore and Judy Junkin; father-in-law, Bob Rawson; mother-in-law, Cathy Rawson; brother-in-law, Rob Rawson and sister-in-law, Heather Bias.
Jake was born January 22, 1963 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated Gordo High School in 1981 and was a member of the 1980-1981 GHS state championship team, playing offensive and defensive end. He played banjo with the GHS FFA string band which won the state championship. While attending college at the University of Alabama, he was a trainer for the football team from 1980-1983 . Throughout his life Jake played banjo in numerous bands including Lonesome Heart, Timber Ridge, The Rawson Family and in worship teams. He was a very talented musician who could play anything just hearing it once and won/placed in countless banjo contests. He served at many churches throughout his life as elder, Assistant Pastor, teacher, worship team member and youth leader. His love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him. He was used mightily by God.
Jake never met a stranger. The room came alive as soon as Jake entered it. He could make any activity fun, no matter how mundane. He loved to serve others and was referred to by many as "the great encourager." He was truly a joy to be around.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Junkin, Jr., Terry Turner, Alan Dyer, Keith Dyer, Jeff Walters, Len Holliman, Aaron Wisenor and Jeff Junkin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Hajjar, John Hajjar, Eli Cline, Kenneth Junkin, Jimmy Williams, Phillip Sizemore, Paul Sizemore, Matt Monk, Frankie Cabiness, Chris Bryant, Jon Roebuck, Jimbo Roebuck, Jeff Roebuck, David Crowell, Tony Elmore and members of Gordo High School Class of 1981 and members of the 1980-1981 Gordo High School State Championship Football Team.
