James William Akin, age 75, of Carrollton, AL passed away August 16, 2023 at his residence.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Smith Akin; father, William Jordan Akin; brothers, David Earl Akin and Robert Hugh Akin and grandparents, Francis Moseley and Adelle Butler Wright and James W. "Jim" and Estelle Winborne Akin.
Survivors include his mother, Lorin Wright Akin; two sisters, Evelyn Akin McElroy and Ruth Akin Greer; nephews, Andy McElroy and Bryan McElroy (Sherra); nieces, Erin Greer and Megan Greer; great nephews, Andrew, Auston and Bryan McElroy, Jr.; great niece, Hannah McElroy; great-great niece, Adalyne McElroy and great-great-nephew, Seth McElroy.
James was born December 10, 1947 in Carrollton, Alabama.  He was a member of Garden Baptist Church, a graduate of Carrollton High School Class of 1967 and a retired employee of Buchanan Lumber Company with many years of service.
