James Robert Butler, Jr., age 95, of Carrollton, AL passed away August 22, 2021 at Arbor Woods Health & Rehab in Reform. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Robbins and Rev. Joe Fondren officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton with Skelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Richards Butler; daughter, Nancy Butler Robbins; his parents; sisters, Johnnie Mae Cockrell and Mary Lee Blackston and sister-in-law, Netie Dillard.
Survivors include his granddaughter, Kayla Robbins Junkin (Jason); son-in-law, Rev. Jerry Robbins (Terisa); niece, Janice Ball; great-nephew, Josh Ball (Chelsea) and great-niece, Carrie Ball Quintero (Victor).
James was born December 17, 1925 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late James Robert Butler, Sr. and Gertrude Wright Butler. He was a deacon and lifelong member of Crossroads Baptist Church, a farmer and a retired employee of Westinghouse.
Pallbearers will be Dan O'Mary, Jackie Ray, Leon Oglesby, Joe Sanders, Mark McDaniel, Ricky Hill, James Robbins, Josh Ball and Jason Junkin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Crossroads Baptist Church family, Arbor Woods Health & Rehab Administrative staff, nurses and CNAs on West Wing, special friends, Jill Webb, Brittney Steen Hudson, Michelle Grammer, Jamie Harris, Hugh Duncan and roommate William McKnight, Southern Care Hospice, Encompass Home Health, Rev. Ricky and Nett Jackson,, Dr. Julia Booth, Dr. Neal Honea and N.P. Darlene Putman.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Crossroads Cemetery Fund, 529 Lewis Crossroads Road, Carrollton, AL 35447 or Pickens Academy, 225 Ray Bass Road, Carrollton, AL 35447.
