James Oscar Gay, Sr., age 90, of Eutaw, AL died July 31, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama .
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm at Dogwood Chapel Saturday, August 4, 2018 with Rev. Carl Sudduth
officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform
directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at Dogwood Chapel,
200 5th Street NE in Aliceville, AL.
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Virginia Ferguson Gay; his son, Thomas Marvin
Gay and his parents.
Survivors include his son, James O. Gay, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Lakeview, AL ; sisters, Libby Petticourt
and Marvis Wilburn; two grandchildren, James O. Gay III and Richard Neal Gay (Kerri) and four great-
grandchildren, James O. Gay IV, Stormie Gay, Catherine Gay and Brennan Gay.
Mr. Gay was born February 29, 1928 in West Greene County, Alabama to the late Irvin Augusta
Gay and Audrey Bland Burton Gay. He was a member of West Greene Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Pallbearers will be James O. Gay III, Richard Neal Gay, James O. Gay IV, Brennan Gay, Steve
Williams and Scott Elliott.
