Obituary

ALICEVILLE | James Madison ""Jim"" Tackett, age 73, of Aliceville, Ala., died September 16, 2015, at St. Vincent's Hospital. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Aliceville First Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight, Friday, September 18, 2015, at Aliceville First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, from, 4 to 6 p.m., and Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., at 304 20th St. South in Irondale, Ala.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Tackett.Survivors include his wife, Sara Jane Harmon Tackett; daughters, Sandra Tackett von Eschenbach (John) and Sheri Tackett Parker (Jay); grandchildren, J.J. and Molly von Eschenbach and James and William Parker; sister-in-law, Sue Gail Tackett; niece, Susan Tackett Allen; and nephew, Garland Tackett.Jim was born September 21, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late T. G. Tackett and Mabel Miller Tackett. He was a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church and a former member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church.He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1963 and was President of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of Jasons, served as SGA secretary/treasurer and was a United States Army veteran serving as a second lieutenant.
