Obituary

PALMETTO | James Russell Kelley, age 65, of Palmetto, Ala., died October 10, 2015, at home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Shaw officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Monica Christine Kelley; parents; and brothers, Rodger Kelley and Ronnie Kelley.
Survivors include his son, Bryan Kelley (Michelle) of Palmetto, Ala.; sisters, Sherry Avery and Regina Sanford of Palmetto, Ala.; brothers, Kenny Kelley (Dana) of Northport, Ala., Gary Kelley (Teresa) of Palmetto, Ala., and Toby Kelley of Palmetto, Ala.; grandchildren, Kristina Kelley, Katelyn Kelley, Bryanna Kelley, and Christian Hudson; aunts, Sally Smith (Fred) of Fayette, Ala. and Sybil Gilmore of Franklinton, La.; sister-in-law, Cathy Kelley of Carrollton, Ala.; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James Russell Kelley was born September 01, 1950 in Palmetto, Ala., to the late Clyde Raymond "Crip" Kelley and Helen Christine Shaw Kelley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired employee of General Tire. Russell was a talented craftsman, who was famous, for his carved walking canes and staffs.
Honorary pallbearers are Michael Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Jason Duckworth, Jerome Simpson, Ben Kelley, Adam Kelley, Caleb Hall, and Amedisys of Tuscaloosa.
