James Harold Kimbrell, age 78, of Aliceville, AL, died July 17, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018 at West End Baptist Church in Aliceville with
Bro. Mike Griffin and Bro. Jack House officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial
Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately
following service at the church.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita; his parents and one brother, Ralph
Kimbrell.
Survivors include his daughters Betty McConnell and Beverly Pate (Roger); sisters, Mary
Perkins (Jerry), Shirley Powell (Donald) and Annette Waites (Elwood); brother, Tommy Kimbrell;
sister-in-law, Barbara Kimbrell; six grandchildren, Dale Pate (Brittnie), Brandy McClure (Bobby), Samuel Pate,
Steven Pate, Sydney Champion (Dana) and Tammy Sawyer (Eric) five great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews.
James was born August 15, 1939 in Walker County, Alabama to the late Burl Kimbrell
and Zora Thacker Kimbrell and was a lifelong resident of Aliceville. James was a farmer most
of his life and he was a retired employee for the Pickens County Road Department. He was also
a veteran of the U. S. Army National Guard.
James was a long time member of West End Baptist Church in Aliceville where he served
as a deacon. James was a devout Christian and would tell anyone about Jesus. He loved to pray
and study his Bible. He loved children and hugs.
Pallbearers are Roger Pate, Dale Pate, Samuel Pate, Steven Pate, Kim Kimbrell and
Jimmy Kimbrell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Hospice of West Alabama, Aliceville Manor
Nursing Home and The Arrington.
