Obituary

ALICEVILLE – James Arthur McBride, age 83, died April 20, 2017 at Noland Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Aliceville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tim Alexander and Rev. Franklin McLelland officiating. A private family burial will follow at Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight, Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th St. NE in Aliceville. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Jean McBride Cotton.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Cox McBride of Aliceville, Ala.; daughter, Jeanne McBride McMillan (Virgil) Bay Minette, Ala.; son, Stephen M. McBride (Jean) of Aliceville, Ala.; brother, Leon McBride (Bettye) of Aliceville, Ala.; sisters, Ernestine M. Lindley of Macon, Miss., Janice M. Stephens of Cochrane, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Faye Hammond of Greer, S.C., Virginia Allen of Wetumpka, Ala., and Tina Hammond of Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, James Michael McBride (Holly) of Johnson City, Tenn., Jamie McMillan Paul (Justin) of Bay Minette, Ala., Sara McBride Craker (Cameron) of Aliceville, Ala., Jody Alan McMillan (Tara) of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Dr. Stephen A. McBride II of Atlanta, Ga; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jay Paul, Ella, Emory and Libby Craker, Coleman and Blakely McBride, Grady and Tanner McMillan; and special friends, Jo Anne Davis, Dorothy Windham, employees and the Coffeetable Friends of McBride Oil.
Mr. McBride was born August 6, 1933 in Cochrane, Ala. to the late Stephen Arthur McBride and Lucy Mae Smith McBride. He was a member of Aliceville First United Methodist Church and co-owner of McBride Oil Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard with 32 years of service and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be James McBride, Sam McBride, Jody McMillan, Cameron Craker, Justin Paul, Jason McBride, Todd McBride and James Cook.
