James "Mac" McKnight, age 81, of Carrollton, AL passed away January 23, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 26, 2023 at West End Baptist Church in Aliceville with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy McKnight and Rebecca McKnight Arrington; sister, Hazel Boyle and brother, John Henry Arrington.
Survivors include his two brothers, Robert McKnight and Herman McKnight.
At 16 years of age, James came to live with Charles and Betty Ashcraft and their three children, Cathy, Dorothy and David. They gave him the nickname, "Mac", which he carried for the rest of his life. He considered them his special family.
Mac was born February 12, 1941 in Clio, Alabama. He was a member and former deacon at West End Baptist Church and a retired veteran of the United States Army with 30 years of service. Mac enjoyed the outdoors and especially fishing.
Honorary Pallbearers are John Walker, Larry Jones, Billy Joe Reece, Gerald Gates, Gordon McGlawn, Kenny Gibson, Rev. Jack House and James Hood.
