ALICEVILLE | James Leon Montgomery, age 70, of Aliceville, Ala., passed away on January 31, 2014 at Aurora Health & Rehab. Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at Dogwood Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai and Rev. Randy Sudduth officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th Street NE in Aliceville.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Montgomery; and his sister, Virginia Stockman.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Bush Montgomery of Aliceville, Ala.; sons, Mike Montgomery of Aliceville, Ala., Randy Robertson (Gladys) of Tuttle, Okla., and Ronny Robertson of Aliceville, Ala.; his sister, Pauline Lancaster of Gordo, Ala.; brother, Leslie Montgomery (Dot) of Aliceville, Ala.; his mother-in-law, Lucy Bush, Hogue (Joe) of Aliceville, Ala.; his 5 grandchildren, Angela, Kimberley, Heather, Brandy, and Taylor; and his 8 great-grandchildren, Rowdy, Gavin, Ryder, Collin, Emma, Brookelyn, Liza, and Easton.
Mr. Montgomery was born May 10, 1943 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Jessie Thurman Montgomery and Mattie Lee Wheat Montgomery. He was a member of Zion Primitive Baptist Church, a retired tractor mechanic, and a life long resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Donald Lancaster, Josh Hickman, Eddie Parham, Dustin Montgomery, Justin Hildreth, and Steve White.
