ETHELSVILLE | James B. "Pete" Oglesby, Jr., age 86, of Ethelsville, Ala., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter Oglesby and Felto Saba Oglesby; sister, Virgin Lee Guy; and granddaughter, Della Elizabeth Oglesby.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Toshiko Oglesby of Ethelsville, Ala.; daughter, Nancy Ann Wade (Roger) of Columbus, Miss.; sons, John Oglesby (Mia) of Clemmons, N.C. and Robert Oglesby (Debra) of Madison, Ala.; sister, Eva Mae Hollinger of Reform, Ala.; grandchildren, Anthony Fulgham, Jennifer Powell, Chris Oglesby and Ashley Oglesby; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Wanda Guy Cowley.
Pete was born November 10, 1928 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late James B. Oglesby, Sr. and Evie Wright Oglesby. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1946 during the Korean Conflict and served 22 years for his country. Pete also owned Oglesby's Bargain Corner in Reform, Ala. for many years.
Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Pickens County Medical Center and Hospice of West Alabama.
