James Gary Phillips, age 47, of Northside, AL passed peacefully on January 26, 2021 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. James Curry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church. We, the family, ask people to wear colorful attire to show the joy and happiness that we shared with Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Glenda Cannon Phillips and his older brother, Ricky Allen Phillips.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Phillips; his children, Layla, Farrah, Jeyssie and Will Phillips; brother, Donny (Nicole); nephews, Trace, Joey and Thomas; nieces, Madison and Beverly; stepchildren, Curry (Emily), Sonya (Scottie) and Kendall (Chelsea) and grandchildren, Emma, Lee, Chloe, Kyndall, Stella, Crews, Lettie and Asa.
Gary was born November 8, 1973 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He worked as a logger and was a dedicated worker throughout his life. He was a loving father, husband, brother and friend to many, always had a helping hand.
When Gary found out he had terminal cancer, his main goal was to build a house for his children. With the help of family, close friends and the community, he had that accomplished in time to enjoy it with his children and wife before his passing.
Pallbearers will be Donny Phillips, Bob Burke, Deuel McBride, D. J. Taylor, Chris Sanford, Kyle Phillips, Shannon Phillips, Jeremy Bigham and Will Phillips.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Robert Phillips Logging Company and the Terry Elmore Logging Company.
