James Raiford "Jamie" Koon, age 90, of Gordo, AL passed away December 8, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Harris Koon; son, William David "Meatball" Koon; his parents; three brothers, Fred, Earlie and Willis Koon; five sisters, Gladys Fair, Ruth Hayes, Rachel Kiker, Sara Nell Koon and Trudie Little.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Smith (Wes); two sons, Donald Koon (Debbie) and Ronny Koon (Charlotte); brother, Marvin Koon; seven grandchildren, Kris, Shane (Amy), Keith (Amy Burroughs), Daniel and Benji Koon, Kahla Fray (Brandon) and Amber Smith; five great-grandchildren, Halli and Jace Koon, Makinley and Sawyer Koon and Collin Koon; brother-in-law, Earl Harris (Rosemary); sister-in-law, Margie Koon; former daughters-in-law, Rachel Koon and Phyllis Steele and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Koon was born July 6, 1930 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Mosey Milburn Koon and Dulie Ann Crocker Koon. He was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church, a retired employee of Alabama Power Company with 27 years of service and former owner of Koon Repair Service.
Pallbearers will be Keith Koon, Shane Koon, Kris Koon, Brandon Fray, Bobby Koon and Ralph Evans.
Honorary Pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Fairview and Zion communities.
