Obituary

James Edward "Jamie" Walters, age 88, of Gordo, AL died January 20, 2025 at his residence.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Springhill Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa County with Rev. Leon White officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hollie Norris; his parents and brother, Clifton Walters (Ruth).
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nina P. Walters; daughters, Kathy Walters Woodard (Chuck) and Suzanne Walters Norris (Greg); son Jeff Walters (Connie), all of Gordo, AL; brothers, Raiford Walters (Ruby) and Mac Walters (Annie); sisters, Jewell Manion (Larry) and Velma Sturdivant (Buddy); five grandchildren, Dusty Woodard, Jake Woodard, Cason Norris, Ethan Walters (Tiffany) and Riley Moffet (Casey) and three great-grandchildren, Charleigh Woodard, Eli Woodard and Rhett Moffet.
Jamie was born March 8, 1936 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Vannie Isaiah Walters and Mary Catherine Latham Walters.  He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and a retired employee of B. F. Goodrich with over 26 years of service.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Woodard, Jake Woodard, Steve Sturdivant, Greg Walters, Cason Norris and Ethan Walters.
Honorary Pallbearers are Hunter Reynolds and staff of Amedisys Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
