Janie Ruth Perrigin Kyzer, age 78, left this life for her eternal home on December 3, 2024 at UAB's Cardiac Critical Care Unit after a courageous month-long battle fighting multiple health issues.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel in Reform, Alabama with Rev. Mike Hall and Rev. Glenn Kennedy officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be after the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kyzer was reunited in Heaven with her mother, Ruth Taylor Perrigin; her father, William Troy "Bill" Perrigin; her loving husband of 50 years, David Richard Kyzer; her beloved cousins, Lottie Bell McCrackin, Jimmy Perrigin and Celinda O'Briant Patton and her much adored grand-kitty, L J and grand-dog, Maverick.
She leaves behind her daughter, Heather Marie Kyzer; grandson, Eathen Foster Kyzer; bonus grandchildren, Coleman Carter, Conner Olmstead and Alivia Hambrick; cousins, Richard O'Briant (Rhonda) and Tamara Taylor Sapp and great-nieces, Kristi Noland, Erin Keasler (Brandon) and Kelli Shelton (Michael).  She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends. Also missing her daily companionship are her precious fur babies, Draco and Mittens.
Janie lived a life of service in caring for others.  In 1965, she received her degree from the Shelton State School of Nursing.  She served our community for 42 years in the DCH RMC Emergency Department.  After retirement, Janie spent her days caring for David, until she lost him in February of this year, and spoiling Eathen, Coleman (and Heather).  She adored her family and enjoyed every minute spent with them.  She never missed an opportunity to watch Alabama football. She also enjoyed Tru-Crime documentaries and any TV show based in medicine.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Pickens County High School Class of 1964, past and current physicians and nurses of DCH RMC Emergency Department, Dr. Clint McEntyre of Northport Primary Care Associates and Dr. Dirk Berry of Tuscaloosa Nephrology Associates.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, 3140 Inv Dornell Cousette Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
Heather often lovingly referred to Janie as her "old bird."  She has now taken flight as one of God's beautiful angels.  Fly high, our precious Granny !  We love you and miss you terribly but will continue on as we carry God's promise that we will see you again.
