Obituary

LEEDS – Jason C. Kelley, age 45, of Leeds, Ala., died July 20, 2016, at UAB Hospital following a long battle with cancer. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vaughn Stafford, Rev. Tyshawn Gardner and Rev. Tim Meherg officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be today, July 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. C. and Virginia Kelley and maternal grandparents, Oscar and Benita Gates.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Pamela Woodie Kelley; four daughters, Abby, Jenna, Emma and Olivia; father, Steve Kelley and wife, Lillie; mother, Evon Holland and husband, Dover; sister, Amy Yarbrough and husband, James; niece, Taylor Yarbrough; and nephews, Alex and Noah Yarbrough.
Jason was born November 13, 1970 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Mississippi State University where he studied Broadcast Meteorology/Climatology. He served as chief meteorologist for WJHG-TV in Panama City, Fla. for ten years during which time he received national recognition for his coverage of Hurricane Ivan.
Jason was an active member of Clearbranch United Methodist Church where he served as an audio-visual producer.
Pallbearers will be Jay Prater, Charles Daniel, Rob Colquett, Adam Colvin, Jerry Wayne Beard and Randy King.
Honorary pallbearers are Ray McDaniel, Pickens County High School Class of 1989, David Neal, Jeremy Pate and Mark Austell.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kelly Godby and staff at UAB Cancer Center, UAB 7th Floor Oncology, UAB Palliative and Comfort Care Unit and Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center.
