Betty Jean Mills Pugh-Andreasen, age 89, of Gordo, Alabama entered her Father's heavenly kingdom on October 9, 2024 at her home. The family held a private burial and will celebrate her life on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 2 o'clock at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel, Reform, Alabama with Reverend Alicia Rhodes, Reverend Richard Crawford and Reverend George McLaurine officiating.
Jean was born on February 12, 1935, in Gordo, Alabama to Charles Corbitt Mills and Bessie Lee Hardy Mills.
She was preceded in death by husbands, OJ Pugh and Rev. Dr. Samuel Gene Andreasen; parents, Charles Corbitt Mills and Bessie Lee Hardy Mills; sisters, Joy Mills and Jo Gann; nieces, Annette Jones and Patsy Reece; great-nephew, Adam Jones and great-great niece, Joanna Joy Rush.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Pugh Duffy and husband, Danny; grandson, Derek Duffy and wife, Tina; granddaughter, Staci Wilson and husband, Marty; great-grandchildren, Caden Duffy, Brock Duffy, Jackson Wilson, Addison Belle Wilson, Crawford Wilson, Brooke Sullivan and husband, Alex, Brianna Lang and Jesse Lang; great-great grandsons, Grayson Sullivan and Maverick Sullivan. She is also survived by nieces, Brenda Beasley, Nita Mullenix and Lindy Wade; nephews, Charles Gann, Danny Gann, Richard Crawford, Kevin Crawford, and Frankie Stewart.
Jean was a lifelong resident of Gordo and a member of Hargrove Church. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Alabama. She went on to have a successful teaching career in Pickens County, spanning thirty-one years teaching special education at Pickens County High School and Gordo Elementary.
Our Mother and Gran Gran lovingly and selflessly devoted her life to her family. She loved her Lord and Savior and served Him joyfully. Having a servant's heart and being known as a steadfast prayer warrior, she often spent her days in prayer. Strength, positivity, words of encouragement and her famous sausage balls provided comfort to many through the years.
Pallbearers will be Caden Duffy, Brock Duffy, Jackson Wilson, Crawford Wilson, Jesse Lang, Alex Sullivan and Jason Mullenix.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her dearest friends, Jimmy Loy Sanders Duncan, Tenza Housel, Ruby King, June Windham Pinion and Ruby Riffe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Live Like Libby, Love Like Libby Foundation, 1486 County Road 21, Gordo, Alabama 35466 or to Harvest Mission Brazil, 1828 Pleasant Ridge Drive, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150.
