Jeanette
Junkins
May 1, 1933 – January 23, 2022
Betty Jeanette Junkins, age 88, of McShan, AL , a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and cousin, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home. Private graveside services were Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Todd Stevens and Rev. Elliott Medlen officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Danny Wendell Shepherd; youngest son, Mark Junkins; her parents, Maurice Woodrow Manning, Sr. and Betty Harrell Manning and best friend, Faye Lyles Cook.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Clarence Henry Junkins; son, Jody Clarence Junkins and wife, Nancy of Warwick, GA; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Lyles Junkins of McShan, AL; brother, Maurice "Sonny" Manning, Jr. of Gordo, AL; three grandchildren, Carly Junkins of Cummings, GA, Travis Junkins (Kelly Jo) of Wichita, KS and John Mark Junkins (Emily) of Norman, OK; one great-grandson, Benjamin Junkins of Wichita, KS along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeanette was educated at PCHS, she worked and retired from McShan Lumber Company and also helped her husband, Clarence run Junkins Tax Services. Jeanette lived most of her adult life in the McShan and Mineral Springs communities. She was a longtime member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and more recently a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in New Hope, MS. Jeanette loved her Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed praising Him with her beautiful alto voice in the choir and in several quartets.
She also enjoyed the many true friendships that were forged through the church along with the ones started in childhood and all through her school days. She was known to everyone as a kind and compassionate lady who would go out of her way to keep from saying anything negative about anyone. She was a true role model for her children and grandchildren and through telling of stories, will be one, for her present and future great-grandchildren. She loved her family, her church and her Lord. Today earth is mourning but heaven is rejoicing. She will be sorely missed until we are reunited with her again.
The family is planning Memorial Services to be announced at the later date so many of her friends and relatives can participate in a true Celebration of her Life.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Big Oak Ranch, Business Office, 250 Jake Mintz Road, Gadsden, AL 35905 or to a favorite charity.
