Obituary

GORDO | Jerry W. Boner, age 55, of Gordo, died July 11, 2014, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. today, July 13, 2014, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, directing. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jerome Hardy; and brother-in-law, Truman Hardy.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Bonner; daughter, Rachel Hartman (Paul); sisters, Maxine Gregg (Larry), Martha Hardy, and Denise Driver (Roland); brother, Billy Ray Bonner (Margaret Ann); nieces, Jackie Crocker (Jeff) and Grace Ann Elinburg (Jon); and nephews, Jonathan Bonner (Karen), Michael Bonner, and Shane Driver (Sally).
Jerry was born December 24, 1958, in Pickens County, Ala., to the late Linnis ""Shorty"" Bonner and Alice Collier Bonner. He worked as a welder for over forty years, and was a member of Boilermakers #108 in Birmingham, Ala. Jerry was a member of Coalfire Baptist Church, a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #172 and a well-known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Bonner, Shane Driver, Paul Hartman, Jack Logan, David James, and Roland Driver.
Honorary Pallbearers are Local 108 in Birmingham, Ala.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
