Obituary

GORDO | Jerry Thomas Driver, age 63, of Gordo, died January 19, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Gordo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron McKay and Rev. Glenn Sandifer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bobbie Hicks.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dot Stephens Driver of Gordo, Ala.; sons, Gregory Harold Driver, Tony Ray Driver (Sabrina) and Terry Silas Driver, all of Gordo, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Shannon Driver of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Peggy Latham (Leroy) of Gordo, Ala. and Dorothy Pugh (James) of Reform, Ala.; brother, John Hill Driver (Jill) of Hoover, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Greg Driver (Kim), Cindy Kizziah (Jamie Stephens), Brandy Martinez (Joey), Cody Driver (Nikki), Dillon Driver, Cole Driver, John Parker Driver, Trace Parker and Shanon Tierce; six great-grandchildren, Hal Driver, Meredith Driver, Trae Kizziah, Aiden Stephens, Mackenzie McDaniel and Alayna Jayne Driver; all of the special babies that adopted Jerry as their Paw Paw over the years; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Driver was born August 27, 1951 in Alabama to the late Gardner Hill Driver and Pauline Gregg Driver. He was a retired employee of the Pickens County Road Department and a former diesel mechanic for Peco. Jerry loved each of his special babies and will be missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Cody Driver, Dillon Driver, Trace Parker, Mike Clardy, William Stephens, Jr., Randall Hicks, Curtis Latham and Adam Burroughs.
Honorary pallbearers are Rudolph and Sally Trull, Larry and Maxine Gregg, Jimmy Lee and Ann Arnold, Michelle Kirk, Tina Eure, Gordo Athletic Department, Gordo Fire Department, Methodist Men's Choir, Dr. Skinner, Dr. Ahzam and all the nurses that cared for him.
