Jerry Thomas Wright, age 86, of Daphne, AL and formerly of Reform, AL, died May 30, 2026 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Private family services will be held.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Hayes Wright and sister-in-law, Peggy Wright.

Survivors include his brother, Joe Wright of Reform; niece, Cheryl Wright Robertson; great-nieces, Lindsay Cook (Dan) and Casey McDow (Dustin) and great-great nieces and nephews, Macy McDow, Mackey McDow, Rhodes Cook and Mary Foster Cook.

Jerry was born March 5, 1940 in Martin, Tennessee to the late William Henry Wright and Lillie DeLena Rhodes Wright. He was a graduate of Pickens County High School and earned a BA in English at Howard College, which is now Sanford University. He taught at Virginia Intermont College, at Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia and at several other private schools. He went to the University of Kentucky where he earned a Masters Degree in Library Science then located to Mobile and took the position of Librarian at the University of South Alabama. Jerry then moved to Daphne where he lived until his death.
