James Lee "Jimmy" Craft, a veteran of the United States Navy and
lifelong native of Benevola, Ala. passed away unexpectedly in his home
on June 9, 2022 at the age of 80. His funeral service is scheduled for
2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Forest Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry
Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton
Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and
immediately following the service at the church.
He was a devoted farmer and church member of Forest Baptist Church,
serving as deacon and Sunday school superintendent for many years. He
worked 27 years at Martin Truck and Tractor in Aliceville, Ala., then
later retired as a poultry farmer. He enjoyed listening to country music,
traveling to Nashville, Tenn. with his wife, spending time in his community
with friends, attending church, and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Walter Lee "Junior" Craft and
Margaret Owen Craft; brothers Donald Owen Craft and Larry Jerome Craft
(father of Macie Salzar).
Survivors include his wife Brenda Craft; sons Donald Bert Craft (Jalaine)
and Jason Lee Craft (Cissy); grandchildren, Mary Kaitlyn (Steven), Drake,
Kaden, Isla Grace, Kash, and J.P. Craft; sisters Mary Eleanor Loftin (Jimmy)
and Tess Hardy.
Pallbearers include John Pearson, Greg Carr, Johnny Knox, Doug Sanders
Jr., Jimmy Earl Fikes, Donny Sanders, Rocky Craft, Edward Owens and
Donny McKinzey.
Honorary pallbearers are his coffee buddies at McBride in Aliceville and
Jet Pep in Gordo.
