Obituary

Due to inclement weather the funeral has been postponed until 1:00p.m.

GORDO – Jimmy Earl Crimm, Sr., age 80, of Gordo, Ala., died January 4, 2017, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Flatwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church. The family requests casual dress.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Voncille Sanders Crimm of Gordo, Ala.; sons, Jimmy Earl Crimm II of Gordo, Ala., Tim Crimm of Gordo, Ala. and Kimberly Crimm of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Nell Murray of Northport, Ala. and Johnnie Dean of Fayette, Ala.; five grandchildren, Heather Klapperich, Josh Crimm, Rachel McJenkins, Kimberly Abersold and Jodie Hollis; and twelve great-grandchildren. Jimmy Earl was born Ju1y, 1, 1936, in Gordo, Alabama to the late Earl Crimm and Omizell McWhorton Crimm. He started painting at age 11 and began working at the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Gordo at age 13.He was a member of Flatwoods Baptist Church and owner/operator of Crimm Sign Display. Jimmy Earl loved horses and was a horse trainer. He loved to reach out and touch people. ""He let his fingers do the walking."" He never said goodbye, he just hung up. Pallbearers will be David Fife, Gary Koon, Carmen Kirk, Gene Wilson, Silas Abersold and Kelly Klapperich.Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the community.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road. Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35404.
