GORDO – Joan Elizabeth Shirley, age 77, of Gordo, died May 11, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lenwood Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Shirley; her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Ann Kelley (David); sons, Wilford Lee Shirley and Glendon Oneal Shirley (Missy), all of Gordo; seven grandchildren, Leann Livingston (Daniel), Brad Shirley (Hannah), Dawn Sellears (Jeremy), Lee Shirley (Ashley), Erica Hobson (Kevin), Ryan Shirley (Dyan) and Shane Kelley (Chasity); and twelve great-grandchildren.
Joan was born July 30, 1938 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Joe and Earline Sims Poole. She was a homemaker and a member of Sand Springs UMC.
Pallbearers will be Brad Shirley, Daniel Livingston, Lee Shirley, Jeremy Sellears, Kevin Hobson, Shane Kelley, Ryan Shirley and Doug Noland.
Honorary pallbearers are the residents of West Hill Square.
