REFORM – JoAnn Kimberly Layson, age 87, of Reform, Ala., died peacefully at her home, May 2, 2018. Services will be 12 noon Monday, May 7, 2018, at Reform First United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Head officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Webster Layson, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Donna Richardson Layson and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Layson Ambrose (Bill) of Reform, Ala.; sons, Butch Layson (Diana) of Calhoun, Ga., James Bryant Layson of Opelika, Ala., Michael Jerome Layson (Renate) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Allen Webster Layson, Jr. of Decatur, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and longtime companion, her pet Jerry.
JoAnn was born November 17, 1930 in Iuka, Mississippi to the late Samuel Bryant Kimberly and Elsie McConnville Kimberly. She was a homemaker, a member of Reform First United Methodist Church and the Alabama Legislator's Spouses Club for 20 years. JoAnn was also a member of the Pickens County Garden Club, the Tuesday Bridge Club and the Pickens County Bridge Club for many years.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jaime Layson, Toby Layson, Jarrett Layson, Michael Layson and Alex Layson.
Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, loving caregivers, Rosa Gary, Ashley Freeman, Christi Shelton, Jeannette Doss, A. J. Livingston, Kenra Livingston, Lisa Prude, Olivia Simmons, Kay Thomas and others.
