REFORM | Joe Norris Shelton, age 71, of Reform, died February 16, 2014, at Pickens Co. Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. today, February 19, 2014, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Smith, Rev. Larry Shelton and Rev. Glen Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lenwood Shelton.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel House Shelton; son, Christopher Shelton and wife, Jennifer; sister, Linda K. Clark; sister-in-law, Eloise Shelton; two beloved grandsons, Blake and Nicholas Shelton; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Mr. Shelton was born December 4, 1942 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Joe P. Shelton and Sara Nell Wheat Shelton. He was retired from the State of Alabama DHR office in Carrollton and attended Friendship Baptist Church where he always looked forward to singing in the choir. Joe never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. His grandsons were the light of his life. Joe was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Even though we can never replace him, we know that heaven has gained a new angel.
Pallbearers will be Greg Clark, Kipp Clark, Brian Shelton, Eric Shelton, Brandon Clark and Cole Shelton.
Honorary pallbearers are Kris Bogard, former co-workers at DHR and members of Friendship Baptist Church.
