Obituary

ALICEVILLE Joe F. Stewart Jr., age 68, of Aliceville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 10, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will take place at West End Baptist Church in Aliceville on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Aliceville Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and following.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sarah Stewart both of Aliceville.

Survivors include his loving, devoted wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Johnson Stewart; his son, John Alvin Stewart of Aliceville; his daughters, Julie Stewart Gray (Gregg) of Pickensville and Sara Stewart Dykes of Aliceville; his sister, Leila Mae Hudgins of Aliceville; his brother, John Samuel Stewart (Laura) of Bolding, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Stewart Greggory Gray, Steven Christopher Gray, Anna Kate Dykes, Mason Alan Dykes, and Carly Elizabeth Gray.

Joe Frank will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends. He was a faithful member of West End Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, and was active in Gideon's International Aliceville Camp. He was employed by the City of Aliceville as Water and Sewer Superintendent for 36 and ½ years. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, vacationing at Orange Beach with family and friends, and traveling hundreds of miles to watch the grandchildren play sports. Daddy Joe was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with all of them. He so greatly blessed our lives as a loving, courageous, Godly husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, grandfather and friend.

Pallbearers will be deacons of West End Baptist Church, Huey Gilmore, Billy Joe Reece, Jim McKnight, John Walker, Larry Jones, Terry Fraser and Kenny Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers are Huey and Mary Gilmore, Bro. Jack and Gloria House, Dr. Jimmy and Faye Wilson, Men's Sunday School Class of West End Baptist Church, Dr. Graham, Dr. Hinton, staff of Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center and staff of Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gideon's International P.O. Box 287, Carrollton, AL 35447 or Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa AL 35404. .
