John B "Johnny" Dean, Jr., age 70, of Reform, AL passed away December 14, 2022, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Wesley Burkhalter and Rev. Larry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John B Dean, Sr. and Betty Shelton Dean and brother Jimmy E. Dean.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kathy Lucas Dean; son, Lucas Dean (Vanessa); daughter, Holly Dean Gibbs (Jeremy); four grandchildren, Travis and Elyse Dean, Jala Kate and Max Gibbs; sister, Brenda Dean Sheppard (Robert); sisters-in-law, Pamela C. Dean and Sheri Lucas White and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was born April 18, 1952, in Reform, Alabama and was a 1970 graduate of Pickens County High School. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Reform and a Master Mason in Fellowship Lodge #172. John was a former Boy Scoutmaster and a member of Pickens Baptist Disaster Relief Team. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger Minton, Mark Austell, Dennis Pugh, Fred Lawrence, Henry Helmers and Jerry Lowe.
