He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Joyce Brown Thomas, two daughters Jennifer (Randy) Anderson of Orlando, FL and Jana (Steven) Hatheway of New Orleans, LA and three adored grandchildren, Jackson Anderson, Ava Anderson and Pierce Hatheway. He leaves behind his siblings Brenda, Louise, Jeff, Drew, Charlene and Dharlene. He also leaves his four-legged companion, Gussie. He is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends whom he treasured.
He reunites in heaven with his parents, Charlie and Willie Ruth Pearson Thomas, step-mother Elizabeth Carpenter, and his siblings TJ, Billie Jo, and Earl where they are sure to be stirring up a lot of mischief and laughter.
Born July 17, 1943, he spent his childhood between Alabama and Ohio moving to Gordo in high school. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Gordo Masonic Lodge #564. After honorably serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam war, he was a long-distance truck driver and mechanic. He could fix anything. He was a fun-loving guy who fiercely loved his family and friends. He did not meet a stranger and he would give someone the shirt off his back if he felt they were in need. He was known for his legendary hugs.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of West Alabama, who compassionately cared for him and us, or Parkinson's Foundation at www.parkinson.org .
