GORDO | John Clifton Fair, age 82, of Gordo, died August 25, 2015, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Lucas, Rev. Tony Latham and Dr. Winford Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Stillman Fair; and sister, Annie Lois Fair.Survivors include his wife, Margaret Burkhalter Fair; son, Terry M. Fair and wife, Joy; grandson, Eric James Fair and wife, Kristin; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Marie Fair and Dallas Alexander Fair; and special cousin and best buddy, Mack Fair.John was born April 26, 1933 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late James Samuel Fair and Martha Ann Barrett Fair. John lived a great life. He loved his church and was faithful to his God. He was a long time member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon since 1975. He worked at Central Foundry until the plant closed and then he worked at Welborn Transport until his retirement in 1999. John was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. Pallbearers will be Dr. Greg Bearden, Walter Brown, Clinton Brown, Michael Fair, Eric Fair, Steve Fair and Glen Burkhalter. The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. -
