MILLPORT - Joseph Revis ""Buck"" Burkhalter, age 95, of Millport, Ala., died September 13, 2017, at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care Unit. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai and Gordo Masonic Lodge #564 officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his son, William K. ""Billy"" Burkhalter; his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruby Nell Rushing Burkhalter of Millport, Ala.; daughter, Cathy Jordan (Lynn) of Northport, Ala.; son, Carl Burkhalter (Holly) of East Tawakoni, Texas; sister, Marie Hickman of Northport, Ala.; six grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burkhalter was born April 7, 1922 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Jody and Beulah Burkhalter. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church, member of Gordo Masonic Lodge #564, a Shriner and a member of the Zamora Temple.
Revis was a retired trucker driver for Ryder Truck Line in Birmingham, Ala. with 35 years of service and a United States Army veteran of World War II and survivor of Pearl Harbor.
Masons will serve as pallbearers.
