GULF BREEZE, Fla. Joe Ura Seymer, Jr., age 85, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., formerly of Carrollton, Ala., died October 24, 2013, at Gulf Breeze Hospital. Services were Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Penny Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wynell Junkins Seymer and his parents.
Survivors include his daughters, Kay Munday (Mark) of Navara, Fla. and Melissa Natividad (Charlie) of Carrollton, Ala.; son, Phillip Seymer (Jeannie) of Carthage, Miss.; sisters, Beatrice Wright (Doug), Nan Bridges (James), Gay Plowman (Jimmy), and Harriett Seymer; brothers, Jim Frank Seymer (Marguerite) and Tom Seymer (Emily); five grandchildren, Jennifer, Ura, Ben, Phillip and Keith; two great-grandchildren, Graydon and Alessandra; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Seymer was born March 29, 1928 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Joseph Ura Seymer, Sr. and Nina Cosper Seymer. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Carrollton and a retired vice-president and general manager in the oil industry. Joe was a Mason, a Shriner and a veteran of the U.S. Army 40th Infantry Division serving in the Korean Conflict.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
