ETHELSVILLE – Joyce Nell Ray, age 64, took her heavenly flight on November 28, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Carrollton, AL with Rev. Shawn McDaniel and Rev. Joe Fondren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sandra Jones Sultzbach; infant sister, Barbara Jones and brother, William Lewis "Bubba" Jones.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Jackie M. Ray of Ethelsville, AL; daughters, Pamela R. Brasher (Jeff) of Bankston, AL., Tonya R. Wilkins (Jason) of Vernon, AL; sister, Peggy J. Ray (Sonny) of Carrollton, AL; grandchildren, Austin Brasher and Jennifer Brasher (Matthew Madison) of Bankston, AL and Tyler Wilkins and Ethan Wilkins of Vernon, AL; and a host of family and friends.
Joyce was born April 14, 1952 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Richard O. Jones and Marine Rodgers Jones. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Carrollton, AL since 1972. She held numerous jobs at the church and she worked at a garment factory for 37 years.
Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting and fishing, but most of all telling friends, family and everyone she came in contact with about her Lord, Jesus Christ. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 31: 10-31.
Pallbearers will be Leon Oglesby, Dan O'Mary, Wayne Parker, Mark McDaniel, John St. Pierre and Clayton Nance.
Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama.
