Obituary

Judith Parker Clasen, 74, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on April 11, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Panola United Methodist Church. Rev. Sandy Felkins will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family in the church from 11:00-12:00 prior to the service. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, Alabama will be directing.
She was born in Macon, Mississippi and grew up in Panola, Alabama.  In 1972 she graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in psychology.  Judy later returned to school at Livingston University (University of West Alabama) to earn her teaching certificate. She was a teacher for many years in the Tuscaloosa City School System at Central Elementary and then at Skyland Elementary.  In the last few years of her teaching career, she taught at Riverchase Middle School in Hoover, Alabama.
In 1989 Judy married James Steven Clasen of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.  The couple lived in Nashville, Houston and Birmingham.  She volunteered at Cheekwood Estates and Gardens in Nashville, The Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Birmingham Museum of Art.  She was an avid lover of antiques and frequently participated in classes as well as field trips with Samford University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jarral Clem Parker and Edward Ashe Parker and her brother, Edward Ashe Parker, Jr. all of Panola, Alabama.
Judy is survived by her husband, James Steven Clasen; her daughters Ashelie White Halla (Clayton T. Halla), Kathryn White Deas (Vincent K. Deas); Grandchildren, Parker Thomas Halla (Taylor Q. Halla), Clayton Ann Halla Short (Samuel Short), William Garrett Halla, Vincent Kenneth Deas, Jr., and Bryant Edward Deas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons along with Oliver Parker and Sam Short.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Panola United Methodist Church.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Kirkwood by the River and Compassus for their care and compassion.
