GORDO | Judy Bonita Homan Mansell, age 78, of Gordo, died February 3, 2026, at her home following an illness. The family will attend a private graveside service at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Cornerstone Methodist Church in Gordo, Alabama, with Bro. Marvin McCormick officiating.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Johnny Mansell; children, Roxanne Lampognana (Tom) and John Mansell (Penny); and "JuJu" is also survived by her grandchildren, Arleigh Mansell, John David Mansell, Thomas Lampognana, and Laura Lampognana; along with a host of friends and relatives.
Mrs. Mansell was born June 23, 1947, to the late Jonas Homan and Martha Carolyn "Mott" Homan of Gordo. She was raised in Gordo and graduated from Gordo High School in 1965, then attended DCH Radiology School and worked as a radiology technician. In 1974, Johnny opened an auto parts store in Gordo, where Judy worked alongside him, helping at the front counter and keeping the books while raising their family. Mrs. Mansell later opened J's Outlet in 1993, which she owned and operated until December 2024. Through J's Outlet, "Miss Judy" served families throughout Gordo and West Alabama for many years, becoming a Main Street staple known for her generosity, her eye for style, and her involvement in the Gordo community.
Mrs. Mansell was a member of Cornerstone Methodist Church in Gordo, where she was involved with her Sunday School class and the Women's Circle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the children's ministry at Cornerstone Methodist Church, P.O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
