Obituary

Keith S. Mullenix, age 68, of Gordo, AL met his Lord and Savior face-to-face on August 24, 2026. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, August 28, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gordo with Bro. Mike Hall, Elder Chris McCool and Bro. Glenn Sandifer officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

Keith was born on May 1, 1958, to the late Herbert and Sarah Nell Mullenix. He was Valedictorian of his 1976 Gordo High School graduating class and a 1981 graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minor in Accounting. On August 13, 1977, 49 years to the day from his admission to ICU, he began dating the love of his life, Deborah Fair Mullenix, and they were married on September 3, 1983. The following years brought 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and countless precious memories.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah Fair Mullenix; his children, Daniel Mullenix (Dr. Kimberly Mullenix), Lauren Billings (Matt Billings), Sarah Lollar (Luke Lollar); siblings, Susan Pate (Mickey), Kevin Mullenix (Myra); brother-in-law, Michael Fair (Sheila); sister-in-law, Sherri McCool (Chris); grandchildren, Davis Mullenix, Eleanor Billings, Harper Mullenix, Lincoln Billings, Lydia Lollar, Mary Ellis Mullenix, Ellie Lollar, and Baby Lollar (due in November); and some very special nieces and nephews.

Keith lived a life marked by service and sacrifice to his Savior, his beloved family, church family and many friends. He faithfully served as Worship Leader at Mt. Pleasant for almost 50 years - leading services, choirs and special programs at church and across Pickens County. Within his church, he also served as deacon and in many teaching roles through the years. Keith was an amazing vocalist and used his talents to honor Christ and touched many lives through countless funerals, weddings, and special events where he was requested to sing. Through the years he was a member of several ensembles and quartets.

Keith shared his musical gift with his family as well. His favorite times were when everyone gathered around the piano as Deborah played and the family sang. He also loved to grab his guitar to sing songs with his grandchildren and host worship on family beach trips.

Keith’s grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy. He loved to travel to Opelika, Hoover, and Northport to spend as much time as possible visiting them and attending their events. He freely shared his faith, love, and life lessons and his greatest desire was to know his children and grandchildren are walking in the truth.

Keith’s legacy of love and faith will live vibrantly through those he loved so well, and the family would like to thank all who have honored him with their prayers and support during this difficult time.

Pallbearers will be Michael Fair, Mickey Pate, John Michael Fair, Austin McCool, Mason McCool, Dalen Mullenix, Tanner Mullenix, Terry Carroll, and Herbby Geer.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the medical staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at UAB, the Gordo High School Class of 1976, and employees of the Pickens County Board of Registrars.
