Kenneth Ray
Martin
February 9, 1954 – February 8, 2022
GORDO – Kenneth Ray Martin, 67, died on February 8, 2022, at DCH-Regional Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1954, in Aberdeen, Maryland at the Air Force Base to Ray James Martin and Jewel Pinegar Cummings. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 a Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Sandifer officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
Kenneth graduated from Carrollton High school in 1972 and later attended Bevill State of Fayette where he earned an associate degree. Kenneth retired from the National Guard after 25 years of service.
He married Julie Hammett, his school sweetheart and they celebrated 48 years of marriage. He held numerous careers over the years, but most enjoyed working with people, his hands, and what little mind he had left. He couldn't find a job that would let him stay for very long as most businesses no longer employed 'know-it-alls'. Julie wants everyone to know this is a joke, she is spazzing out.
He mostly enjoyed spending time playing board/strategy games with his children/grandchildren and a small group of friends. However, what he enjoyed most in life was aggravating his wife of 48 years. Kenneth had terrible taste in music and even worse taste in art as he preferred to follow Bob Ross. We can't help everyone, right?
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Marlin Orman Cummings Jr. They were both very competitive and Orman wanted to beat him to the gates! Surviving in addition to his wife, Julie (Hammett) Martin, are his sons, Chris and his wife, (Lezette) of Surprise, Arizona (actual place-not a surprise); Tommy and his wife, (Tina) of Gordo; Michael and his wife, (Mary) of Gordo; seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Nathan, Andrew, Matthew, David, Elisabeth, and Eli Martin, one sister in law, one nephew, three nieces (who are like the daughters he never wanted), along with their children and spouses whom he enjoyed spending time with.
Honorary pallbearers will be all the grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Rick Lowry, Jesse Box, Dylan Payne (whom we hear is a pain to live with).
