ETHELSVILLE | Larry E. Jaynes, age 69, of Ethelsville, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Miss. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Ethelsville Baptist Church with Bro. Mel Howton and Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Laverne Jaynes and Boyd Jaynes; and sisters, Hortense Lollar and Margie Brooks.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Price Jaynes of Ethelsville, Ala.; son, Jeff Jaynes and wife, April, of Coalfire, Ala.; brother, Charles Jaynes of Birmingham, Ala., and Lewis Jaynes of Columbus, Miss.; sister, Doris Neil of Birmingham, Ala.; granddaughters, Sharon Jaynes and Amber Jaynes of Sylva, N.C., Hayle Rowan Jaynes of Coalfire, Ala.; grandsons, Daniel Collier of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Hadyn Jaynes of Coalfire, Ala.; great-grandson, Derric Jaynes; and great-granddaughters, Tiera Jaynes and Makadion Jaynes.
Pallbearers will be Charles Tilley, Frank Terrell, Boyd Sullivan, Mark Flanigan, Mike Brown, and Jim Hughes.
Mr. Jaynes was born in Ethelsville, Alabama on November 12, 1945, to the late Andrew Leander Jaynes and Mary Ellen Burgess Jaynes. He graduated from Liberty High School in the Liberty Community in 1964. Mr. Jaynes retired from Monroe Tufline in Columbus, Miss., in 2008. A life-long resident of Ethelsville, he was a member of the Ethelsville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, former music director and also on various committees. Larry loved his church very much and everyone who knew him knew he was a man of God. He loved life, but most of all he loved his wife, his son, and all his family. He will be greatly missed.
A very special thanks to Charles Tilley for his willingness to help Larry in his time of sickness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ethelsville Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, 230 Main Street, Ethelsville, AL 35461.
