CAROLLTON | Larry "Skull" Skelton, age 67, of Carrollton, Ala., died January 8, 2016, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home with Rev. David Blakney officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughters, Candice Skelton Gingo (Jimmy) of McCalla, Ala. and Rebekah Skelton of Carrollton, Ala.; son, Jeremy Skelton of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; mothers of his children, Gwen and Beth; sister, Donna S. Finn (Danny) of Carrollton, Ala., Rita S. McCafferty (Butch) of Carrollton, Ala. and Marnetta S. McDaniel (Tim) of Aliceville, Ala.; brother, David E. Skelton of Reform; special friend, Elinor Goodson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Larry was born July 4, 1948 in Gordo, Ala. to the late Burnette Skelton and Gwyndolin Nelson Skelton. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church, a former employee of B.F. Goodrich and was an employee of Skelton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Paul "Doobie" Clay, Dustin McGee, Caleb McGee, Bill Junkin, Jacob Fields, Craig Clanahan and Phil Fitch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sharon McGee, neighbors and friends, Carrollton High School Class of 1966, and employees of Skelton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
