December 26, 1939 – February 12, 2024
Milburn Laverne Bryant, Jr., age 84, of Carrollton, AL passed away February 12, 2024 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Funeral and Masonic services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel in Reform with Rev. Shawn McDaniel and Rev. Robert Heard officiating. Burial will be in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by parents.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Charlotte Lee Bryant; daughter, Sandra Sullivan (Tim) of Gordo; brother, Steve Bryant of Butler; two sisters, Annette Winborne of Kimberling, MO and Maxine Locke (Jimmy) of Carrollton and two grandchildren, Johnathan Sullivan (Karleigh) and Carson Sullivan.
Laverne was born December 26, 1939 in Aliceville, Alabama to the late Milburn Laverne Bryant, Sr. and Minnie Dee McCrary Bryant. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church, Carrollton Masonic Lodge #214 and the Shriners. He was also involved in the Reform Masonic Lodge #172 and Gordo Masonic Lodge #564. Laverne was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a retired employee of El Paso Gas Company and a volunteer at Pickens County Medical Center and Pickens Baptist Thrift Store. He loved fishing and hunting and especially loved his time with his grandsons.
Masons will serve as Pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Jay Parker and the staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home and members of the Masonic Order; Carrollton Lodge #214, Reform Lodge #172 and Gordo Lodge #564.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Carrollton Baptist Church, P.O. Box457, Carrollton, AL 35447 or to Highland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 381, Gordo, AL 35466 or to the Pickens Baptist Association for the Honduras Mission Trip, P.O. Box 206, Carrollton, AL 35447.
